Q: What is a parent's responsibility?

A: To be present with your child at meetings and events. We would love to have you help in any way you can, as it will forge a closer bond with your Scout.

Q: Why are girls involved in BSA Scouting?

A: Women have been pivotal to BSA's success since its foundation, serving as Den Mothers and Den Leaders. Many of our young ladies have wanted to join Scouts for years. Additionally, adults' schedules can be hectic. It's a win for everyone to allow all to become Scouts.

Q: But why the rebrand as BSA Scouts?

A: To be inclusive of all our members, the official title of Boy Scouts is BSA Scouts. We don't make it a big deal, but we want to ensure our young ladies don't feel on the outside looking in.

Q: What if we have other activities? We have that hectic schedule you mentioned above!

A: The best part of Scouting is they go at their own pace. They may need to work with you or the Den leader to cover topics missed, but the program can be essentially completed from home. That said, the Scouts have so much fun at meetings, make as many as you can!

Q: Is Scouting safe?

A: Yes. All volunteers require child clearances, and we follow a strict set of rules and procedures. Learn more at BSA Scouting's Guide to Safe Scouting.

Q: Must a Cub Scout become a BSA Scout?

A: While it's our hope your Scout would love to continue their Scouting path, it is by no means a requirement or expectation.

Q: How much does it cost?

A: We have that information on our Popcorn Fundraiser page, as that's one of the best ways to defray the costs of Scouting. That said, our goal is to turn no Scout away, so if finances are a concern, talk to us - we'll make it work!

Q: What does a Scout... do?

A: As much or as little as you can or want. Our schedule is packed with fun!

Q: We just found out about Scouts, but it's late in the year and/or my child is older than Kindergarten. Can we still join?
