When Cumberland Valley opened Sporting Hill Elementary School on June 4, 1956, the PTO moved the charter here. Pack 196 and its Scouts proudly call Sporting Hill home to this day.

Pack 196 was founded on May 20, 1953, with the charter and support of the Eberly School Parent-Teacher Organization. Its original leadership included the following founders:
